Toetal Footcare - Company Background
Toe-Tle Footcare - now called Toetal Footcare was established in 1993 by its founders, HPC registered podiatrists Tracy Davies and Joanne Wynne. Both partners had qualified from the Cardiff School of Podiatry and met whilst they were employed by the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust.
Toetal Footcare started with a practice in an upstairs premises in Pontypridd town centre. As the business became more popular, the space restriction became untenable and, in 2002, the shop below became available; Toetal Footcare expanded into this premises which it still occupies today.
The shop frontage allowed the firm to show and stock a range of specialist, extra wide fitting shoes for men and ladies. Toetal Footcare has become one of “Cosyfeet Shoes” largest retailers, providing an important service to patients with ‘difficult to fit’ feet. Expanding this theme, Total Footcare began stocking and selling good quality, British made “Hotter Footwear”, which has always had an excellent reputation for comfort. These two ranges of shoes were complemented with a range of other footcare products.
In 2006, Toetal Footcare opened its second branch in Cardiff. This allowed the firm to extend its range of footwear and increase the number of clinical treatments for its clients.
Toetal Staff
Toetal Footcare now employs 11 staff in the business. Podiatry treatments are provided by Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Wynne, Mrs Barnett, Mr Jaimangle - by appointment only.
Dr. Jane Lewis
Toetal Footcare’s Biomechanical Specialist is Dr Jane Lewis. Dr. Lewis qualified from Cardiff School of Podiatry in 1998. She initially worked in Swindon in a private practice before joining the NHS in the same area. After a move to Cardiff a year later, she started a private practice in the Vale of Glamorgan; she also worked part time for the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust as a podiatrist. In 2002, Dr. Lewis began full time employment within the NHS whilst also studying for her Doctorate, which she was awarded in 2006 from Cardiff School of Medicine. Currently, Dr Lewis’ role in the NHS is ‘Highly Specialist and Research Podiatrist‘, dealing with: difficult, high risk patients; diabetic foot wounds; and Biomechanical problems. She liaises daily with microbiologists as well as vascular and orthopaedic consultants.
In her spare time Jane manages to find time to participate in various sports at a high level. She has represented Wales for 5 years in rowing; has completed numerous half marathons and one full marathon; and for the last two years has been competing in Olympic distance triathlons. Dr Lewis’ love of sports has led to her interest in biomechanics and the prescribing of custom made orthotics for patients, which she has diagnosed with underlying biomechanical problems. Toetal Footcare is very proud to have Dr Lewis as part of the team: her expertise in the field of Biomechanics adds an invaluable dimension to the business.
